Social programme

A mix of social and spiritual...

We are a diverse bunch and this is refelcted in the programme of activites that happen away from the main services. They don't all involve as much food as the International Food Evening shown in the picture - although most involve eating somewhere!

Home Groups

There are a few groups that meet in and around the parish for fellowship, bible study and prayer.

Brownies

Being a Brownie is all about having loads of fun and a huge adventure! To be a Brownie you need to be a girl aged between seven and 10 years old. Brownies meet together in a Pack most Wednesday evenings 6-8pm. Our Brownie Pack is run by Lynne Henderson and a team of adult leaders. They look after you and make sure you have a great time on your Brownie Adventure. For more details contact Lynne via the church office (020 3067 0035 or office@saintmellitushanwell.org.uk).

Mothers' Union

With more than a million members, the Mothers’ Union is the largest Christian women’s organisation in the world with a distinctive tradition of personal links and relationships worldwide. United by a common commitment to Christian family life, and by the custom of the cycle of midday prayers we are active in our own local communities, in all sorts of ways, fitting our activities to those local priorities and needs. Our Mothers' Union meets in the Church Hall every first Wednesday of the month at 11am. For more details, contact Yvonne White on 020 8575 2453.

Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter

In 2011 we are one of seven churches along the Uxbridge Road offering food, friendship and a bed for some of the homeless of West London.

Each church hosts for one night of the week - Thursdays in our case - with the scheme running for 12 weeks from the beginning of January. More information available from the church office or at the ECWNS website.

Alpha

The Alpha Course consists of a series of talks addressing key issues relating to the Christian faith. There is a light meal together at the beginning of each session which gives people a chance to get to know each other. After each talk we divide into small groups to discuss the topic of the evening, ask questions and express opinions. We then break into small groups over coffee to listen, learn, discuss and discover - and ask anything.

Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile. Our next Alpha course starts in September.  For more details, contact John Hereward at the church office (020 3067 0035 or office@saintmellitushanwell.org.uk).

Social Programme

No church would be complete without a range of social activities, and we’re no different. There’s a drama group, St. Mellitus Players, that meets weekly. Then there is a range of occasional events covering everything from BBQs to beetle drives to boat trips. For more details of forthcoming events see the calendar.
